What We Do .

Everything started when a small group of teacher trainers got together to form a professional group. T-PLUS was born then, and it continued functioning as an informal professional organization. T-PLUS organized 10 big events over the period of 5 years giving a chance to ELT professionals to share their experiences.

TESOL in Turkey

When T-PLUS grew bigger, and reached around 200 members, it was time to change it to a formal association. For that reason, all the formalities to establish an association were completed and T-PLUS became TESOL in Turkey.

TESOL Turkey

In the year 2018, the dream about being an affiliate of TESOL International came true. The application process was completed and TESOL International approved TESOL Turkey as a formal affiliate. Upon receiving this good news, the name of the association was changed as TESOL Turkey.

TESOL Turkey organizes many exciting professional events in different categories.

Annual Conference

An International conference is organized annually.

TESOL Turkey goes to the doorsteps of the institutions to help them establish and/or sustain a CPDU.

Local Events

Trainer Training Courses

TESOL Turkey aims to help and guide enthusiastic ELT professionals who would like to be teacher trainers in their institutions.

Roadshows are two to three-day training opportunities tailored according to institutional needs. In March 2018, Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University School of Foreign Languages requested such an opportunity from TESOL Turkey. On 22 – 23 March 2018, four members of TESOL Turkey, all working as CPD officers in three different institutions were assigned the task of conducting 53 classroom observations. Following the observations, TESOL Turkey trainers met with the school management to share their findings of strong points and areas to consider. On 7 – 8 June 2018, Katip Çelebi University in İzmir also requested guidance from TESOL Turkey for setting up their CPD Unit. This time, TESOL Turkey trainers, provided support through a series of workshops and trainings that will lead to the initiation of the unit.

In 2019,  various TESOL Turkey teams visited Dokuz Eylül University in İzmir, Uludağ University in Bursa and Osmangazi University in Eskişehir, where issues related to the importance and impact of professional development, alternative means of individual and collaborative professional development and steps for setting up effective CPDUs were discussed.
